My Future

As I continue my time at the University of Maryland I am excited to pursue my degrees and dive deeper into the business school. I would like to continue working with Smith Ambassadors, an organization that helps promote the business school, which will help me network and learn more about the school. I am also involved with Club 5, an accounting club in the Smith school, and would like to continue working with them to learn more about how to pursue a career in accounting. Lastly, I believe my sorority will help develop leadership skills and build a network, which are both incredibly important in my field.

After I graduate in May 2022 I plan to have the 150 credits needed to take my CPA. These exams are very important to many accounting firms I am currently looking at. Many firms I have spoken with say they expect you to become a certified public accountant and will even help you with costs. Personally, I believe my best fit will be in a firm outside of the big four, and I hope to find a group of people similar to my coworkers at my internship. I am still unsure whether I am more interested in audit or tax, but will be looking into this as I continue my accounting courses.
